Lucky Lou's Bar & Grill: A Charming New American Eatery in Wethersfield

We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary but didn't want to leave our dog Obi at home. We searched for a dog friendly restaurant and found Lucky Lou. We didn't know about historic Wethersfield until we arrived and was pleasantly surprised by how quaint this downtown is. The restaurant is right at the intersection of Main street area. They have a large patio courtyard, with tables well spread out. We were pleasantly greeted and seated right away with our dog. The server brought water for us and the dog. There were other parties with dogs at the courtyard, but the space is large enough to have good separation among us. We enjoyed a delicious meal with calamari, bbq wings, ribs and beet salad. We will definitely come back and explore the downtown area more.

I would have never heard of this stop as we stopped by here after a day of wedding dress shopping for my princess girl & am so happy that we did! Such an adorable little town. We sat outside of the very large patio, everyone was bringing their dogs (so cute). Food was great. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely stop back in.

My family and friends and I have been coming to Lucky Lou’s for years, and it never misses. The food is genuinely some of the best in the area, and the location in Old Wethersfield is super charming. The quality is always top notch, the service is consistently great, and the owner goes out of his way to be welcoming and is very accommodating especially when we come in with bigger groups. Even when it’s just my partner and me, he stops by to chat, which we always appreciate. We’ve celebrated birthdays, engagements, and college graduations at Lucky Lou’s on top of casual dinners throughout the week and couldn’t be happier everytime. The patio is dog friendly and a great place to eat in the warmer months and the inside is beautiful too for the colder months. 10/10 recommend.

I recently purchased a $100 Gift card that was being mailed and unfortunately I never received and it was supposed to be a Christmas gift. The owner Lucas called me personally to let me know that although the gift card did not make it to me and their business is now closed until January, he would personally resend me $100 in gift cards and bring them to the post office and have them express mailed and he would cover the cost to make sure I received them as soon as possible. I cannot Thank Lucky Lou's (Lucas) for his act of kindness. This was not his fault that they did not reach me and I just want to say that he put his Customer first. We had such a nice conversation and I can see why he was rated one of the best restaurants in Wethersfield. I am from Watertown, CT and I look forward to going to Lucky Lou's to personally thank him and shake his hand for being so kind. My wife and I visited yesterday, which happened to be Wethersfield's Annual Porchfest day with bands, artists, and vendors set up on a blocked-off portion of old Main Street, including Lucky Lou's. It was a fun event. We could view the lively action from our high-top table on the open patio. We ordered our usual Rosemary Greek Gyro with rosemary chicken, rich tzatziki sauce, Greek salsa, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), toasted pita, and out-of-this-world roasted Greek lemon potato slices. What a delicious, filling meal. We were in Greece this summer and agreed that Lucky Lou's gyro plate was only matched by one other offering in Greece. Likely because of the Porchfest festival, the friendly waitstaff was obviously overworked, and I had to ask for the bill after a long wait, but the taste of the gyro far outweighed that inconvenience. If you enjoy gyros, this place is worth a visit.

Lucky Lou's has a fantastic atmosphere inside and outside. Went for lunch at 12:30 on a Tuesday and it was fairly crowded. .Service was quick and really friendly. Fish Tacos had great flavor. You only get 2, but the amount of fish in each was good enough. Tartar sauce and chipotle yogurt in the tacos is a perfect pairing to cod fish. Chicken Gyro was big size and tasted good. Not the same as a Lamb Gyro, but nonetheless was very good. Like everything else these days it was a bit pricey for lunch but the quality of food, service and atmosphere was all worth it.

I love this place every single time we come here. The food is amazing, they have a great indoor space, and an awesome outdoor space (where you can bring your dog!). The drinks are mid but they aren’t terrible. I would say they are nothing special. With that said, they have a great outdoor space where you can bring your well behaved pet - they even have an adorable dog menu featuring chicken, steak, or treats for a few bucks. It is so cute and I love coming here in the summer with my girls or for a nice date with my man. I keep coming back! Just remember, make a reservation because it gets busy in the summer and they have a 20% service charge for parties 6 and over (but they do work really hard and provide great service).

I have to say, weather permitting, I often prefer patio dining, especially when it's Friday, and you have nothing better to do but unwind and take it slow. This is a good place for that. Service is attentive, drinks and food are good and parking is easy. I chose seafood today, and each dish was perfect for my liking. Always a good restaurant to return to.
